What is a Shared SSL

A Shared SSL can be used for a multitude of things. It is made to give your site security and your visitors piece of mind. Examples of what an SSL can protect are:

  • User Log In Pages
  • Collecting Email Addresses
  • E Commerce/Shopping Cart

You can turn this feature on in your Control Panel by following these simple steps.

Log into the Control Panel and click on the SSL icon shown below.

SSL icon

Now simply click the off button in the column for Shared SSL next to the domain you would like to use it on.

You may now pick what 3rd level domain alias you would like to populate on the shared SSL.

Click the submit button.
Your Shared SSL should now be turned on!

*** NOTE Since this is a Shared SSL your customers will see the domain alias you specified above in their address bar instead of your site’s URL (ie: https://domain.cp14.ixsecure.com instead of https://domain.com). If you would like them to instead see your URL, then you may purchase an SSL here.

What if my Shared SSL isn’t working?

If all of the above steps have been completed and you are still having problems, please feel free to contact us. We will be happy to look into it with you.
