It’s New Year’s! A happy time?

A time for reflecting. A time to party. A happy time!

For most of us, it’s a time of making promises to ourselves that get seem to get harder to keep as the year goes by… so instead of that, I resolve to focus on what makes happy times even happier. (Hint: it’s not alcohol.)

It’s gratitude.

I’m not recycling an old “Thanksgiving” email about being thankful here. I will make this new year the happiest it can possibly be and I’m taking you with me.

This new year comes with a bunch of awesome new stuff; new products we’ve worked really hard on like our Domain Club that will save you money, great projects that will continue to improve our hosting services (I even hear whispers of a new hosting control panel, “zzzz…. cPaaahhnellll…. zzzz” in the ice-cold winter breeze), and our new account control panel, which you may have already seen.

So, my ambition for 2013 is to be happier. Happy people make better partners, parents, business owners, thinkers, and well, people. The way to get there is to be grateful for everything you’ve got and to constantly search for things to be happy about. If you can spend your time focusing on the positive around you, you will influence your world to be more positive toward you.

I hope you start searching for all the good in your life until it just becomes obvious on its own and all your struggles appear smaller by comparison. There is a lot to be grateful for, in anyone’s life, and it is all too easy to forget.

We’re incredibly grateful to have you as our customer and partner in doing better things with the Internet.

I hope this year will be a happy one for you.

What’s your New Year’s Resolution? Any specific ones in regards to your business or website?

Fathi
Happy IX Leader

PS: I’m really interested to hear what you guys think. Put your answers in the comments and we’ll try and answer each one – especially if you have any confusion about what you can do to reach those goals with your site.

prism glassesPPS: So, check this out. I got myself this really cool Christmas gift called “prism glasses.” They’re awesome and totally weird, but I love them. Who knows, you might like them too!

Also, if you want to read more about gratitude and happiness – I recommend you check out “The Happiness Advantage” book. I will be using my new prism glasses to read it in bed, but don’t judge the book by that. It’s actually good and has inspired me in many ways!

I went to the new Control Panel Login (link was given in your email) and it does NOT take my current login info, so I have to ask myself, have you ALSO not migrated all my account settings, billing profile, etc? You would think that you could at least migrate all my info from old to new… that’s the “extra mile” you should have done for your customers. I will continue to use the old login until you have finished the work.

      Hello Jjones,

All of your current information will be there, and log in information should be the same. I have created a ticket in your account to discuss this.

      Have a Happy New Year!

  2. Hi Fathi, I’ve been an IX customer since almost 10 years ago. You’ve built an amazing company that has gotten even better in recent years. I’ve recently consolidated all my hosting needs to IX Web Hosting, and in the process closed down several accounts I had with other web hosts. The only suggestion I can offer is, if you give good deals to new customers, you should give even better deals to your loyal customers. Don’t fall into the bait-and-switch tactics of giving discounts upfront and then raising prices once you have the customer. I was a bit sad when you took away my free domain credits after I was a customer for many years, and at that point I almost left IX. Just something to think about. Cheers!

Fathi I want to wholeheartedly agree with this post. I see all the great specials you’re offering new customers, so what about the customers that sticks with IX all the years. I need to renew my hosting in 2013. This will be my 3rd time and I’ve been with IX hosting since 2009.
I am a happy customer and will in all likelihood renew my account, but hey look after your loyal customers. We would like to see some rewards coming our way. Thanks for all you are doing to make this a great hosting company and the trouble you take in talking to your customers keeping them up to date with changes. I am not so much interested in all the extras frills and things, for me IX is great as I experience IX as a reliable, relevant and affordable hosting company!
Thanks for all you doing to improve our customer experience, but please also award us not just your new customers!

        Hello Morgenj,
We do agree with you and do try to offer everything we can to our current customers as well. I did try to look up your account but was unable to find it. If you can provide us with your information we can lookup your account and create a ticket to discuss this some more with you and see what we can do. Thanks!

    • I couldn’t agree more.

When will they be updating the website builder? It has a lot of issues and I was told last year that they were working on a new site builder.

    • IX: Robyn M. - -

      Hi Jackie!

We are definitely working to come out with a replacement for Site Studio. At this time we do not have much of an ETA for it but I have definitely seen it in the works. Once something does come out we will be sure to notify all of our customers. Thanks!

Don’t fall into the bait-and-switch tactics of giving discounts upfront and then raising prices once you have the customer. I was a bit sad when you took away my free domain credits after I was a customer for five years, and at that point I almost left IX. Just something to think about. Cheers!

    Hi,

I’ve been a customer for some years now and am generally very happy with the service. New dashboard/cp is quite nice though I have a couple of (very simple) requests.

    1. On the “manage.ixwebhosting.com” login page please set it up so that after loading the page the focus/cursor is in the ‘username’ textbox (just like it used to be) for reasons that ought to be self-evident.

2, Another thing that used to be the default was having the ‘Manage’ button for the hosting account on the page straight afer login. Now it takes an extra click or two to get there and (perhaps I’ve not spotted it) there seems no way to add it directly to the ‘home’ page. I know it can be accessed via the ‘Quick Product Jump Menu’ drop-down in the top-right, or I can even use the ‘Manage My Hosting’ button. But for what I suspect is the most-widely used feature to be absent from the starting page is a bit of a nuisance.

    Gripe over. Well done otherwise.
